Minani, Rwanda
For those of you who've been with us for a while, Minani's coffee from Rwanda is a familiar and much-loved name! We've been lucky enough to bring his amazing beans to you for the past five years, and every single year, we're blown away by the consistent quality.
This year, we're particularly stoked because Rwanda's had very little of that pesky "potato defect" popping up. If you're not familiar with it, this defect gives the coffee a flavour profile that tastes like raw potato, usually something that can be first caught by the smell of grinding the coffee. It's caused by a bacteria that can get into the coffee bean, and even just one of these rogue beans can completely ruin a whole cup. It's definitely something that's unfortunately steered some folks away from Rwandan and even Burundi coffees in the past.
If you're keen to dive deeper into what causes this, our friends over at Counter Culture in the USA have a fantastic article that explains it all in great detail.
But back to Minani — we picked his coffee this month for subscription simply because we're absolutely loving how it tastes! We're also feeling really good about our roasting process, as we believe we're truly doing justice to this incredible coffee.
Hope you have been enjoying it! As always, reach out with any questions if you have any.
Kindest regards,
Ben
