Wbeimar Lasso, Colombia — February 2024

FEBRUARY SUBSCRIPTION

Hey subscribers,

I hope the year is off to a good start. We are very excited about the continuous process of sharing coffees we love with you all.

Wbeimar Lasso, Colombia (Pink Bourbon)

I am excited to be sharing this coffee from Wbeimar. The Pink Bourbon variety, like this month's coffee, has been getting a lot of attention in the coffee world. This variety is a hybrid of the yellow and the red bourbon and when fully ripe, it displays a pinkish hue, the characteristic that gifted it its name.

Wbeimar's coffee was shown to us during a tasting session with our importer friends at Cofinet. We were told that Wbeimar's coffee has always displayed the intense fruit-driven flavour profile that we love here at MOM. Not only was the profile big and fruity, as promised, but it also had a great level of balance and clarity. Yum!

The Pink Bourbon profile is getting a lot of attention because it displays more complexity and an overall larger spectrum of flavours than other similar varietals. We have seen this too and have been very interested to see other producers take to planting and exploring this coffee variety. It is a risk for farmers to cut down old, and replant new, up-and-coming varieties. We see this risk and want to always show ongoing support to farmers who are continuously on the bleeding edge of coffee growing.

Thanks so much for staying tuned. I hope I am always giving you some information that is interesting and helps to broaden your thoughts on coffee. If you ever have more questions, please reach out.

Kindest regards,
Ben
