María Belén Díaz grew up in coffee. As the daughter of a coffee farmer, coffee has shaped her entire life — first through family, then through curiosity, and now through her own work as a producer. Before dedicating herself fully to Finca Resinas, María spent several years working as a coffee quality analyst in Cauca, developing the sensory skills and knowledge that now guide how she grows and processes her coffees. She is part of the Huila Condor Project, a group of 96 women producers, and in 2024 became one of the first women in her region to earn formal certification in coffee processing through The Forest Academy.
María runs the farm alongside her husband, Narciso Narváez, and their three sons. The family first arrived in Acevedo as workers, eventually purchasing Resinas through years of hard work and saving — a story reflected in the care they bring to each harvest. Their shared goal is simple but meaningful: to see their coffees recognised and appreciated beyond their community.
For this lot, cherries rest for 36 hours before pulping, followed by another 36-hour fermentation in mucilage. The coffee is then carefully washed, slow dried under canopies for around 12 days, and stabilised before export. The result is a coffee built on patience, knowledge and family — expressive, thoughtful, and deeply personal to María’s work.
