Adorsi is a washing station near the village of Aricha, in Yirgacheffe’s Gedeo Zone. It is run by Testi Specialty Coffee, a family business founded by Faysel Abdosh.
Around 800 smallholder producers bring their coffee cherry into Adorsi from the surrounding villages. Testi keeps coffees from different areas separate as they move through the station, which gives us a much clearer picture of where the coffee has actually come from — something we really value.
The cherries are picked by hand, sorted not long after arriving. From there the coffee is laid in thin layers to slowly dry on raised beds. Testi also pays producers above the local market price for their cherry, with another payment made once the coffee has been sold.
This is very much our kind of natural Ethiopian coffee. Still clean and with an intact acidity, but a layer of natural processing flavours – ripe berries, winey-ness deeper florals. Nothing too loud or showy, just really beautiful natural processing.
