La Unión is a 21-hectare farm in Huehuetenango, owned and run by Carlos Rivas. Carlos bought the farm in 2017 after it had been sitting largely untouched for more than a decade, and has spent the years since slowly bringing it back to life.
There are now 22 different coffee varieties growing across La Unión. Carlos has dedicated a big part of the farm to varieties chosen simply because they taste great, and this lot comes entirely from his Pacamara trees.
The importers, Melbourne Coffee Merchants, have been buying coffee from Carlos and La Unión since 2024. It is still a fairly new relationship, but exactly the sort we want to be a part of — good coffee, thoughtful farming and a producer making deliberate choices about what he wants his farm to become.
