Elías is an open-minded and hardworking producer in Pital, Huíla. His curious mindset has led him to work with the likes of Tim Wendelboe for 10+ years. Elías has been able to cultivate many varietals, from more basic Caturra, Castillo & Colombia varieties, to SL28, Gesha and various other more exotic ones.
We have two different lots this year from his farm, Finca Tamana – Gesha and a Caturron variety. This Gesha variety has been brought onto the farm by Elías to build a versatile offering of different varieties. The Gesha variety is originally an Ethiopian landrace coffee but was made famous by its careful selection and cultivation in Panama. Gesha is now common all over the coffee-producing world, stemming from producers seeking very high cup scoring coffee, and when lower-yielding trees are not an issue.
