Melbourne Coffee Merchants has once again brought us great coffee from a women's collective in Rwanda. We are in love with the loyalty and dedication that goes into their work at origin. This is the fourth year to be working with this cooperative. This is our deepest value, to invest in each other lives, through building relationships. Coffee is a beautiful yet simple way to increase the feeling of community well-being between everyone involved.
This special micro-lot was produced by a group of women who are members of the Dukunde Kawa Cooperative. They own small farms near the Mbilima washing station, which is located in the rugged Northwest in the town of Musasa, at around 2,020 metres above sea level, making it one of Rwanda’s highest washing stations. Close to the famous Virunga (Volcanoes) National Park, this part of the world has a mineral-rich soil and lush environment that is well-suited to specialty coffee.
