He started with half a hectare that his father gave him and slowly bought more land over the years. It's the kind of story I really love about coffee, one person building something patiently, harvest after harvest.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp dir=\"ltr\"\u003eOscar's coffee is Parainema, a rust-resistant variety, and that matters. Leaf rust has hit farmers in this part of the world really hard, and Oscar had to battle it on his own farm. He also changed how he processed his coffee. Before the community moved to washed processing, quality control wasn't a big focus.
